     FMI Paint & Chemical began as a small, family owned manufacturer and retailer of architecural coatings in 1950.  In 1969 we were the first company to introduce a line of 100% acrylic coatings designed to lengthen the cyclical maintenance cycles of the growing condominium market by introducing “Stormcoat 100% acrylic stains”.  Cycles were increased from the traditional 2-3 years of oil based stains to current levels of 10-15 years.  We continue to be one of the largest suppliers of product to this market.

    Today, operated by 2nd generation, FMI continues to grow as a major supplier to the lumber priming industry.  We have introduced a variety of oil based and water-borne products specially formulated to meet the demand of more stringent environmental rules.  Our “Enviroprime” line is a series of high solids, low voc coatings, which can be applied via flood coater, vacuum coating or spraying.  Our “zero voc” coatings are the most enviromentally friendly in the industry and our ability to formulate to your specific needs distiguishes FMI from all of the major manufacturers.
